Staff Profiles

Randy Griffin- Randy is President of Weststar Development, LLC. our General Manager and real estate Broker Associate. He manages the construction of new homes being built for resale by Weststar as well as build-to suit homes for new residents. He is our on-site real estate specialist and also manages daily operations for the Cobble Creek Community. Randy and his wife Libby moved here from Plano, Texas and have lived in Montrose since 2016. Randy received his BBA in Finance from East Texas State University. His career has included residential real estate development and construction, senior housing development and construction and oil & gas. He likes to bass fish and take nature photography when he has free time! His favorite thing about Cobble Creek is the strong sense of community. A fun fact about Randy is that he owned a Cessna Aircraft Dealership many years ago!

Madison Gurule- Madison is our Clubhouse Manager, Golf Villa Property Manager, RV Lot Manager, and Real Estate Assistant. She manages the daily operation of the Clubhouse and Fitness Center. She handles the bookings and manages our Vacation Villas on McMasters Place as well as our Member RV lot and she assists our Real Estate team. Madison was born in Denver, CO but moved to Montrose when she was 3. She went to Montrose High School and graduated in 2012. She then moved to Winston-Salem, NC where she played college soccer and attended Salem College for a year. She then transferred to Colorado Mesa University where she continued her education in Secondary English Education. She has been back in Montrose for wo years and has spent her free time hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, paddle boarding and going to the lake. Her favorite part of Cobble Creek is getting to know all of the members and their backgrounds and where they have been as well as the wonderful staff she gets to work with everyday! A fun fact about Madison is that she has been to 25/50 states and hopes to visit more soon!

Paul Heide- Paul is our Golf Course Manager. He maintains the course and the various common areas and amenities. He does a fantastic job of keeping everything that needs to be green, green! Paul and his wife have lived in Montrose for 26 years. He previously lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Paul attended high school in Lake Linden, Michigan and then attended Eastern Michigan University. He loves to walk his dogs and spend time with his family. A cool fact about Paul is that he is the guitarist in a local rock band called “Dave’s Fault”. Paul’s favorite part of Cobble Creek is the spectacular views, especially at sunrise.

Gerard Lanser- Gerard is our Head Golf Professional. He manages the golf operation as well as the pro shop and gives lessons to our members upon request . Gerard has lived in Montrose for 5 years. He moved here from Litchfield, AZ but was born in Miami, FL. He went to Westview High School and graduated in 2003 and then he attended Glendale Community College in Arizona. Gerard and his wife Jessica have two kids and they love spending time together, golfing, fishing, biking, and hunting. Gerard’s favorite things about Cobble Creek are the beautiful golf course views, beautiful homes and the great quality of life. A cool fact about Gerard is that he played professional golf from 2006-2012 on the Gateway & eGolf tours all over the country. He earned his tour card for PGA Tour Canada in 2012 and played one year in Canada after that.

Kala Rusk- Kala is our 1st Assistant Golf Professional. She performs golf shop operations such as merchandising, tournament operations and accommodating golf course customers. She also gives lessons throughout the year which is her true passion. Kala was born and raised in Montrose, attended Montrose High School and graduated in 2013. She went on to attend the University of Northern Colorado where she earned her BS in Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality as well as competing for the Universities golf team. Kala loves the outdoors, she loves to golf (obviously), fish, hunt, four wheel in the mountains, snowboard and play basketball. A fun fact about Kala is that she was born on Halloween! Her favorite part of the Cobble Creek Community is that it has such an amazing community feel. That and her passion for golf are the reasons she loves coming to work everyday!

Deb Patterson- Deb is the event coordinator for Cobble Creek. She plans the parties, coordinates the weddings, creates the tablescapes, and tries her best to manage the chaos. Deb has lived in Montrose since 2016. She moved from Ventura County, CA where she went to Agoura High School in Newbury Park, CA. She has an interior design degree, a former EMT Certificate (which she is thinking about reinstating) and a pre-school teacher certification. Deb loves gardening, reading, hiking, writing and hanging out with her awesome family. A fun fact about Deb is that she has 2 teenage boys and she has been married to her high school sweetheart Jeff for 21 years. She has been swimming with sharks and bonefishing on the flats of Belize, lived in Oxford, England for a little while, co-wrote a children’s novel with her son (The Adventures of Ninja Kid) and is currently writing another novel. Deb’s favorite part of Cobble Creek is the gorgeous mountain view she gets to look at every day and the amazing people she works with!

Justin Thompson– Justin is the Food and Beverage Director as well as the Restaurant Manager for Creekside Restaurant. Justin and his wife Danielle have lived in Montrose for nearly a year. He moved here from the Vail/ Edwards area where he also worked in the food service industry. Justin went to Bear Creek High School in Lakewood, CO and attended Metro State University. He enjoys playing with his kiddos (4 year old daughter and 1 year old son), skiing, hiking, and camping. Justin’s favorite parts of Cobble Creek are his co-workers and the scenery, and of course the food at Creekside!

Christian Arocho- Christian is the Executive Chef for Creekside Restaurant. He develops new recipes, plans menus, maintains inventories on food supplies, purchases food orders, hires local talent and provides necessary training to ensure quality culinary dishes are produced. Christian and his wife Maribel have lived in Montrose for nearly a year after moving here from Leadville, CO where he lived for about 7 years. Christian attended San Miguel High School and then attended Col. Universidad del Este and received his Bachelors in Food Service and Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales. He loves spending time with his wife and son and his favorite part of Cobble Creek is the restaurant and kitchen staff! A fun fact about Christian is that he restored a 1962 VW Beetle with no prior experience working on cars!

Pierce Donley- Pierce is the Tavern Manager and has been working at Cobble Creek for about a year now. He started as a Tavern Bartender and has fallen in love with food and beverage operations. Pierce lived in Dallas, TX before moving back to Montrose but attended Gonzaga University where he received his B.A. in Public Relations. He enjoys mountain biking, camping, scuba diving, skiing, and hanging out with his puppy Jasper. Pierce is a Montrose native and graduated from Montrose High in 2011. A cool fact about him is that he has an artificial shoulder and ankle from skiing! His favorite part about Cobble Creek is how tightly knit the staff is and the Creekside Patio!




Flint Ogle- Flint’s original association with Cobble Creek was as the water attorney who helped secure and coordinate the golf course water rights in the late 1990’s. He later participated in the development of Spruce Point beginning in 2005 and now manages Cobble Creek Golf Community’s underlying ownership group, coordinating macro-management decisions with Randy Griffin. Flint has been fortunate to live much of his life between Colorado and California, attending Cal Berkeley for undergrad and CU Boulder for law school. When not engaged with Cobble Creek, Flint manages other partnerships pursuing oil and gas and real estate investments. An avid cyclist and fly-fisherman, fan of good Jazz, and frustrated drummer, Flint also enjoys dancing with his wife, Elisabeth, and being an active fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research foundation. Flint’s favorite things about Cobble Creek are the open mountain vistas and welcoming membership.
